In this episode we visit Austin at the Seven Cups Warehouse to talk about choosing green puer cakes. Learn the basics for evaluating a cake in relation to the quality of the mao cha and whether it is made from an old tree. Austin shows how the color changes over time, gives tasting notes and information on appropriate storage. Check out our online catalog of green puer cakes in our teashop.

That video was excellent, thanks! Very informative, and it really helped me to begin to understand puer cha. I do hope you’ll do more! We appreciate the time you put into these.

Thanks Austin, my name is Colby and I want to thank you and Zhuping for all the hard work and dedication to making fresh high quality tea available in the states. I studied in Sydney under a Chinese master at a fujian style teahouse for a year and have been since practicing and reading everything from Lu Tong's famous poems and the Classic of Tea to more modern day accounts on chinese tea culture. I've only recently moved to Northeast China in Liaoning, but am planning to move to Guangzhou, or Kunming to study Mandarin and find a master to learn from. I've bought from sevencups several times while i was stuck in the mainland last year and that helped keep me satiated for new fresh tea. I recently bought your Ginger Blossom Dan Cong, i did a lot of research on the different brewing methods and correct brewing vessel etc. as it was my first time to experiment with a Dan Cong my curiosity was rewarded with a feast of the senses and I was astounded by the depth and complexity that Dan Cong had to offer. I plan to make a stop to Phoenix mountain one day, but i was hoping you could shed some light on the whole subject of Dan Cong wulong, especially the aging process and history of this tea. I am having a hard time finding solid information regarding this extraordinary tea. Also i was hoping to pick your brain on Dan Cong vs. Anxi and your own personal preference.

Thanks so much i look forward to hearing from you. Colby S.
