I just spent a week in Portland, and was pleased to find that the city has an exquisite classical Chinese Garden, complete with a beautiful teahouse, run by the folks at The Tao of Tea. It was truly a wonderful experience to sit and drink tea while looking out at a beatiful pond, maple and pine trees, stones, and architecture. There was a nice selection of teas available, with options for brewing in a gaiwan or kung fu style. I met a new person there and we shared a pot together and stayed until the place closed. Just what drinking tea should be like! If you are ever in the area, I highly recommend checking it out.

  2. I like them, they have a great selection too! I've never been there in person, but I used to deal with them. Customers and brokers alike speak highly of Tao.

They have this one tea that I've never seen anywhere else. It's called Kali Cha from Kurseong, near Darjelling. It's an extremely dark oolong made from a Chinese cultivar. I also had their Vietnamese Lotus Ancien. It was my first experience with lotus or Vietnamese tea. It's one of the best things I've ever had in my mouth.

I wanna move to Portland one day and then I'll be able to visit Tao in person!

I'm envious of you Lucas. We want to go there as well and are going to try to make it next year. Their new tea room is breath taking and you can see the pics on their site. I used too buy Gyokuro(but they have'nt been able to get any in for awhile now) from them as well as a couple other organic teas.
