Tea Masters
Over the years we have become friends with some of China’s most renowned Tea Masters. Some make our tea, and some help us with research regarding Chinese Tea and Tea Culture. We are deeply indebted and honored to know these true artists and scholars.
Rather than hide them from you, we want you to meet these remarkable people. Tea is an obsession with us, and we believe that the best way to promote traditional, small-scale Chinese tea production is to be open about who makes our tea. We call this “open sourcing.”
In addition to the information under each tea in our Tea Shop, we’re creating detailed pages for each one of our tea masters here in this section. Links to these pages are on the left. We’ll be adding more tea masters over the next few weeks, so check back with us!
So far, we’ve created pages for the following tea masters:
- Liang Junde, our Lapsang Souchong tea master
- Weng Shang Yi, who’s been making Shi Feng Long Jing since he was 14 years old
- Luo Shao Jun, a tea scholar who is known throughout China for her efforts to preserve China’s cultural heritage through traditional Chinese tea and tea culture
