This is a blend of grade 2 to 5 mao cha with buds. The mao cha coming from Lin Chang has a full bodied taste and a sweet aftertaste, Si Mao for a smooth taste, and De Hong is known for its fragrance. The mao cha for this cake is only harvested in the spring. This raw cake does not have the bitterness found in other young green cakes. This blend was developed during the early Qing Dynasty as a tribute tea by a Yunnan governor wishing to regain lost favor with the Emperor. Even now there is a hundred year old golden melon in the Forbidden City on display. It is considered a work of art. It is made by only using first grade mao cha and it weighs 3300 grams. |
