Most display teas are shaped into a ball, because it's the easiest shape to make. When other tea producers learned how to make display tea from Mr. Wang Feng Sheng, they learned this basic ball shape. Our Pearls Rising display tea, however, is shaped like an oyster instead of a ball. As we noted in the Chrysanthemum Peony description, chrysanthemum's cooling properties work well with green tea. Chinese use plum blossom buds to aid digestion. When you infuse this tea, the leaves open like an oyster's shell, revealing plum blossom buds that look like a string of pearls. Mr. Wang's intent in designing this tea was to wish prosperity to the drinker. A picking standard of one bud to one leaf, wrapped with one piece of Huang Shan tribute chrysanthemum and a string of eight plum blossom buds, gives this tea a clear apricot liquor and delightful cinnamon flavor. Enjoy it over at least 7 infusions! |
